Job Summary

The Senior Solutions Engineer is responsible for supporting the delivery and engineering efforts for the Consulting Services product and services line of business. This includes continuous improvement of assessment and migrations tools and platforms used by the Consulting Services organization, implementing best practices for a migration factory and occasionally participating in hands on efforts to onboard customer environments. The successful candidate will be experienced and comfortable coordinating members of engineering, operations and service delivery to complete customer enabling tasks and projects. A critical skill of the successful candidate will be his/her enthusiasm towards customer service while working with internal constituents and partners.

 

Responsibilities

* Provides quality internal and external customer service surrounding TierPoint’s Company values

* Assists in designing and implementing the assessment and migration practices and procedures

* Assists in the delivery of the Consulting Services roadmap

* Selects and implements toolkits that enable the migration services practice to become more efficient and effective

* Coordinates and remains closely aligned with the Service Delivery and Technology organizations to deliver and manage contracted engagements

* Closely aligned with Architecture and Engineering to maintain knowledge of product roadmap and adjusts Consulting Services roadmap as required

* Participates in coordinating with the Project Management Office to ensure proper planning for technology and resources are in place to meet customer deliverables

* Participates in the creation of statements of work to ensure projects are delivered successfully with appropriate levels of gross margin and customer satisfaction

* Assists in managing and coordinating 3rd party partners and vendors to deliver solutions for Consulting Services engagements

* Participate in creating a learning program to ensure all members of the Professional Services and Service Delivery organizations are current on modern and relevant technologies

* Participate in the creation of an annual budget to ensure appropriate funding for training, travel, lab equipment and staffing necessary to deliver budgeted Professional Services revenue and gross margin

* Maintain market knowledge and awareness by attending relevant trade and vendor training and/or events

* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Requirements

* Customer advocacy

* Expert level knowledge and experience of VMWare environments

* Deep knowledge and experience of Hyper-V and KVM environments

* Deep knowledge and experience of Microsoft Azure, Active Directory and O365 environments

* Deep knowledge and experience with at least one of the following: Veeam; Zerto; Carbonite Doubletake; Commvault

* Proven knowledge and experience with Cloud Provider networking and security topologies

* Proven knowledge and experience with multi-tenant and private cloud environments

* Deep experience with backup and disaster recovery best practices and methodologies

* Experience with RISC Networks Cloudscape, VeeamOne, vRealize, Netapp On Command Insight or other discovery platforms

* Strong technical acumen as it relates to assessing and migrating customer environments

* Strong ability to collaborate with internal teams to timely complete projects and resolve issues

* Ability to think in an entrepreneurial style to promote and implement new ideas and activities

Preferred Experience

* Seven to ten years’ experience in an engineering or service delivery function

* Two to five years’ experience in a engineering or service delivery function

* Prior two years’ experience in cloud hosting and services industry

* Demonstrated experience developing and delivering customer facing programs and deliverables

* Prior experience managing staff

Working Conditions

* Ability to travel a low to moderate amount for internal and customer meetings.
